Purpose of the Job:
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the reliable operation of machinery, equipment, and facilities by executing a variety of maintenance tasks. This role emphasises troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining equipment while adhering to safety regulations and quality standards.
Job Objectives:
• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance to enhance the longevity and performance of equipment. • Conduct thorough routine inspections of machinery and facilities to proactively identify potential issues or irregularities that may lead to equipment failure. • Document inspection findings in detail and report them to the maintenance supervisor, ensuring that all identified issues are tracked and addressed appropriately. • Respond promptly to maintenance requests submitted by various departments, ensuring that each request is assessed and addressed efficiently to maintain seamless operational flow. • Handle emergency repairs swiftly, to mitigate disruption to operations while adhering to quality standards and safety protocols. • Assist with the installation of new machinery and equipment, ensuring that each component is installed correctly. • Verify proper alignment and operational readiness of newly installed equipment. • Apply industry best practices during setup and maintenance activities. • Adhere strictly to safety regulations and workplace policies to ensure a safe working environment for all personnel, actively contributing to a culture of safety during all maintenance tasks. • Promote a safety-first culture among team members and stakeholders by modelling safe practices and encouraging open discussions regarding safety concerns and quality assurance. • Collaborate effectively with team members on various projects and tasks, leveraging collective expertise to enhance overall productivity and ensure high-quality outcomes while providing technical support to other departments as required.
Qualifications:
• Matric or Grade 12 certification - (essential). • +2 year of experience as a Maintenance Technician or in a similar role - (essential). • Vocational training in maintenance, electrical, mechanical, or a related field - (advantageous). • OHSA Certificate or equivalent recognised safety training - (advantageous). • Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems - (essential).
Experience:
Previous working experience in a similar environment an added advantage.
