The Store Manager is responsible for the day-to-day running of the Curtain Factory showroom — ensuring excellent customer service, strong team performance, and a consistently professional store environment. This role is the first line of management for retail staff and the operational anchor of the store floor. Supervises / Manages Retail Sales Representatives.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Store Operations • Ensure the showroom is open, prepared, and professionally presented at the start of every trading day.
  • Oversee daily store operations, staff deployment, and floor management
  • Handle escalated customer complaints and service failures with professionalism
  • Ensure all product displays, samples, and pricing are accurate and up to date
  • Team Leadership • Supervise all retail sales staff on the floor daily
  • Conduct daily briefings on targets, promotions, and priorities
  • Monitor individual sales performance and provide real-time coaching
  • Report persistent performance or conduct concerns to HR
  • Sales Performance • Drive the store's achievement of daily and monthly sales targets
  • Monitor conversion rates and coach the team on closing techniques
  • Assist with complex customer enquiries that require senior intervention
  • Coordinate with the Admin Officer on quotation follow-up activity
  • Site Visits & Client Measurements • Visit client premises to take accurate window and curtain measurements as required — particularly for higher-value or complex jobs
  • Verify the accuracy of measurements taken by Sales Representatives before they are released to production — measurements signed off by the Store Supervisor are treated as final
  • Use approved measurement sheets and tools — record dimensions, fittings, fabric requirements, and site conditions accurately
  • Coach Sales Representatives on correct measurement technique, recording, and on-site client conduct
  • Represent the company professionally on every site visit — uniform, punctuality, and respectful conduct in client homes and offices
  • Administration • Submit daily sales reports to management
  • Manage staff schedules and time-keeping for the retail team
  • Escalate stock and operational requirements to the Operations Manager

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPIs)

  • Store monthly sales target — achieved or exceeded
  • Team conversion rate — walk-in to sale
  • Customer complaint rate — zero unresolved complaints
  • Showroom presentation standard — maintained daily
  • Staff punctuality and attendance within the retail team
  • Daily sales report submitted on time — 100%

Role Requirements

Minimum Qualifications & Education

  • Zambia School Certificate (Grade 12) required

Experience Required

  • Minimum 2 years in retail sales — at least 1 year in a supervisory role
  • Experience in home décor, textiles, or interior retail advantageous

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong sales and customer service skills
  • Team supervision and basic performance management
  • Clear communication — verbal and written
  • Basic reporting and store administration
