Stock Clerk

About the role:

OK Furniture is seeking a Stock Control Clerk to oversee all stock management activities within the branch, ensuring optimal stock levels for seamless sales operations and accurate sectional stock-takes. The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in inventory control, stock reconciliation, and customer complaint resolution related to stock issues, utilising advanced record-keeping and stock movement tracking systems. This pivotal role requires strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and experience in retail stock management at a branch level. What you'll do:

Ensure daily delivery schedules are adhered to by printing and verifying delivery notes and checking stock accuracy against the UCS system, including order numbers, quantities, and product models. Manage the return and recording of incorrect or damaged stock, and process unauthorised requisitions on the UCS system when delivered quantities differ but items remain required. Capture SKU details, print and affix tickets to stock items, and coordinate the movement of stock to appropriate storage locations with the assistance of general staff. liaise effectively with management, sales staff, and suppliers to source stock from other branches or external suppliers, and follow up on outstanding orders. Arrange both incoming deliveries and outgoing merchandise, ensuring accurate recording and signing of all stock movements on the UCS system. Conduct weekly sectional stock-takes according to branch schedules, maintaining stock integrity and availability. Handle and process returns for credit, exchanges, or repairs promptly and in accordance with company policies, keeping accurate records of returned products and customer complaints. Maintain regular communication with suppliers regarding customer complaints and keep customers informed about the status and progress of their issues. Coordinate with drivers to ensure timely and accurate delivery of stock to designated destinations. Maintain and supervise filing and retrieval systems for stock data, including delivery schedules, customer returns, Goods Movement Register (GMR), and Goods Return Slip (GRS) documentation.

What you bring:

• Matric certificate or equivalent qualification
• Proven knowledge of stock management systems
• Minimum of one year's experience in stock management
• At least one year's experience in customer service or client-facing roles
• Strong organisational and time management skills
• Ability to work accurately and efficiently under pressure
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
• Competency in basic computer applications and inventory software
• Reliable and proactive approach to work responsibilities
