Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Analytics Specialist to form part of our Internal Audit team to work closely with our audit team members to design, build and execute data-enabled audits, continuous monitoring solutions, and Power BI dashboards. This role is critical in embedding data-led assurance across the audit lifecycle and enhancing audit coverage, efficiency, and insight generation.

Key Result Areas

• Work with the Internal Audit team to design and execute data-driven audit procedures and analytics to support audit engagements
• Extract, transform, and analyse large datasets from source systems
• Work with the team to identify control weaknesses, trends, anomalies and risk indicators using analytics
• Support auditors with data interpretation and insight-driven reporting
• Conform with GIA audit methodology and documentation requirements

Continuous Assurance & Automation

• Develop continuous auditing and monitoring solutions (repeatable and automated)
• Build and maintain analytic tools, scripts, and models to enhance audit efficiency

Data Visualisation & Reporting

• Translate analytics into storyboards and executive insights for stakeholders

Data Strategy & Innovation

• Contribute to GIA’s data and digital audit strategy
• Support implementation of data models and scalable analytics solutions
• Promote a data-driven culture and innovation mindset within audit

Stakeholder Collaboration

• Partner with:
• Internal audit teams across Investments, Wealth, and Properties portfolios
• All relevant stakeholders, including business data owners and IT teams
• Communicate complex analytics clearly to non-technical stakeholders

Requirements: Skills, Qualifications, Experience required

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in:
• Data Analytics / Data Science / Computer Science / Information Systems / Statistics / Finance
• Professional qualification (advantageous):
• CA(SA), CIA, CISA, or equivalent

Experience

• 4–8+ years’ experience in:
• Data analytics / data science / audit analytics
• Internal audit, risk, or assurance environment
• Experience in financial services (Insurance, Investments, Banking) is essential
• Proven experience building Power BI dashboards and analytics solutions

Technical Skills

• Advanced Power BI development (data modelling, DAX, visualisation)
• Strong SQL / Python / R / data engineering skills
• Experience with:
• Data extraction from enterprise systems
• Data transformation and reconciliation
• Automation tools and scripting
• Understanding of:
• Internal audit methodologies and risk-based auditing
• Control frameworks and governance environments
