About the Role

The Professional Nurse/Clinical Nurse is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of individualised, holistic, and person-centred nursing care for patients, families, or communities. They coordinate patient care within a multidisciplinary health team, using scientifically based nursing theories and processes.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a clinical resource for nursing personnel.
• Ensure communication and interaction with families and health professionals regarding patient care.
• Assess, plan, and implement advanced nursing care in a specialised field.
• Initiate, direct, and maintain emergency treatment as indicated.
• Interview patients and families to obtain relevant information and assess needs.
• Participate in the multi-disciplinary team to evaluate, develop, and implement healthcare plans.
• Prepare and maintain patient documentation.
• Provide input for patient care policy and procedure development.
• Ensure a safe, clean, and secure environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
• Actively participate in teamwork and collaborate with other departments.
• Facilitate education and training for nursing staff and students.
• Allocate staff members to provide appropriate nursing care.
• Maintain professional development and knowledge of Netcare's policies and procedures.
• Build and maintain stakeholder relationships.
• Implement medical technologies and digitisation for the benefit of the business and patients.

Inherent Requirements

• Matric
• Registered as a Professional Nurse with the South African Nursing Council
• Thorough knowledge of general/specialised nursing theory and practice
• 2 years' experience in the Theatre Complex
• Extensive knowledge of modern nursing care principles and practices
