Job Description

VVOB – education for development is an international non-profit organisation with over 40 years’ experience in strengthening the quality of education systems in Africa, Asia and South America in close partnership with ministries of education and their institutions. Research shows that, of all school-based factors, the quality of teaching and school leadership has the biggest impact on learning outcomes of learners. As such, the professional development of teachers and school leaders is VVOB’s primary focus in ensuring quality education for all. By working closely with governments, research institutions, committed donors and national, regional and international networks and expertise partners, VVOB strives to maximise the sustainability and potential for upscaling of its initiatives.

Purpose

The purpose of this assignment is to provide high-quality, individual coaching to VVOB supervisors worldwide to strengthen shared leadership behaviours and support them in translating VVOB’s Shared Leadership vision into their daily working practices.

Scope of work

The selected coach will read and familiarise themselves with the following VVOB documents in preparation of the coaching trajectory:

  • Learning Unlimited strategy
  • VVOB Shared Leadership Vision Document
  • Module 1 (self-paced) of the Shared Leadership Learning Trajectory
  • The coach will be briefed further in detail by VVOB in an online session on the Shared Leadership vision
  • The coach will ensure their coaching approaches and terminology align with the VVOB leadership frameworks and will only offer coaching on subjects related to this framework

Objectives of the assignment

The coaching aims to enable supervisors to:

  • Deepen insights developed in the Shared Leadership self-paced module.
  • Identify and prioritise personal development needs related to Shared Leadership.
  • Develop concrete behavioural and practical actions to strengthen shared leadership in their teams.
  • Build reflective capacity and leadership adaptability in diverse VVOB contexts.
  • Embed shared leadership principles sustainably in their managerial practice.
